    unable to open usb drive files in word excel


    i am unable to open ms word/excel/html files on usb drive i am using ms office 2010

    and when i try to copy it gives me error

    i couldnt open html file in new edge browser but it open fine in chrome

    however i can open pdf files on usb drive

    one more i thing i just remember now i have samsung j3 smart phone and i uses samsung Smart Switch application which connects to my mobile via usb cable and backsup data, it no longer detects mys samsung mobile when i connect usb cable to it and windows explorer also no longer shows my samsung mobile connected to my computer

    however i am able to print to hp deskjet printer through usb cable

    Could you share how you are opening.

    Are you using "Recents" in a list of files or are you navigating to the word file, within Word's Open dialog boxes. Again not using Recents or Pinned lists


    Does this happen with all USB sticks or just this one?


    I assume you have a copy of the USB stick as USB sticks are not stable devices, they work for what seems forever and then one day they just don't.

    right now it is happening with external 500GB usb drive which is attached to computer via usb cable

    looks like usb cable have problem, usb cable is 5-6 years old

    it dont happen with 16GB USB drive

    i try to open files from windows explorer and word open dialog

    same problem with another computer

    this is backup usb drive i rarely open file on it and use it for backup purposes most of time

    i will buy a new usb cable asap and see if it resolves the issues

    i didnt goto market because of fear of crona as too many people there

    opportunity for some local business guy then !!!!!!!! could make billions --look at Alibaba in China !!! I think owner of that business even makes Bill Gates seem like a pauper !!!!!
