Word is open on desktop after boot-up

I did go to Advanced Options. The first option-"Receive Updates For Other Microsoft Products When You Update Windows" was already turned on.

It is a bug and likely some obscure combo. Like I said not everyone has this.

My Office (Office 365 / 2019) is fully up to date and you will see in the thread I included the other member is up to date.

I have Office Home & Student 2019. I have done the following & did see "Click To Run" listed in the Task Manager.

In updates go to Advanced Options / Click the first button: "Receive Updates For Other Microsoft Products When You Update Windows"

Also in Word Options I do not see anything about Updates nor really anything about updating Word or Office.

Open Word, click File, down near the bottom lower left click on Account.

Should get a screen like this. Shows where to update and your current build number.

At present Updates will not fix this.

Checked Office Updates. Says it's up to date.

I also sent Microsoft Feedback on this problem.
Thanks to all for your responses

Wish I could have given you a fix instead of workarounds.

    Just a long shot.
Can you check the Registry key
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Run, to see if for any reason there is an entry for Word listed there? And if it is, delete it.

You can also check, Task Scheduler, if there is an entry for starting up Word, upon boot. And if it is, delete or disable it.

In both cases, I could not think of any reason, why these entries, if exist, got in there, but at least if they are there, by deleting them you'll resolve the problem.

In my case there is neither.

In any event if you end all versions of word before restart / booting you do not get Word on boot.

If either of the above was true then ending all versions in task manager would make no difference as the registry key would start it regardless.

As I said I did check both.
