    Office 2013 Pro Plus

    Hello

Have Office Professional Plus 2013 xxxxx-xxxxx-xxxxx-AA130. Am upgrading 7 Home to 10 for family member. So question is how to save existing files (Word, Excel, PPT) to thumb drive prior to upgrade.
Any restore tips most appreciated. Am doing this remotely via TeamViewer. HP s5-1310t desktop, 4GB RAM, Core i3 x64.

    Many thanks

Are you talking about MS Office itself or files resulting from using office programs ?
Default folder for office user files is Documents, you'll just have to hunt them down by extension and copy them manually.
If you are directly upgrading from 7 to 10 that will keep whole Office and resulting files.

    Thanks, CM
Yes, files resulting from its use. Thought that Documents might be it for what's there.
Understand that Keep My Files is supposed to do just that but did an upgrade in January where 2010 did not. Had to recover them from a WD MyPassport.

Agree entirely with this sentiment ... only I would add at the beginning ... Never, never, ever ....

Same sentiment applies here - Never, never, ever ... trust storage of files on a thumb drive. External USB drive - yes, or maybe as a last resort cloud storage (OneDrive, Google Drive), but never a thumb drive.

And in any case (and maybe in this case especially), two backup destinations wouldn't go astray (external storage - no matter how good - can always fail).

With all due respects, the fact that you have to ask (which should NOT be a barrier to you attempting - and succeeding - this process) might suggest some level of inexperience. Always a danger if something untoward comes up and you're not sure what to do next.

    Back, backup, backup

Further suggestion, if you've got the discs and license for Office2013, why not a clean install of Windows 10 (i.e. wipe the drive and start afresh).
