Somewhere there is a Product Key needed for all versions of Office. The software can be found but that Key is something else. The Product Key is usually printed on the COA/Certificate of Authenticity and the program has an EULA/End User License Agreement which defines the Licensing of use of the software and installing limitations, usually was for one 'workstation' and one 'portable device' in charge of the same person. And that Product Key is required for Activation of the installation.

If wanting something compatible I use the free LibreOffice, there's others available. I prefer LibreOffice as it still supports the formats of Microsoft Works which was discontinued several years ago with Version 9.x and most of my clients moved up from WinXP and have recipes created in Works that was included by the OEMs. The only issues I've seen with any of the free programs and some of the less-expensive version is they have nothing comparable with Outlook and Publisher.

The free LibreOffice 6.4.2.2 suite should allow you to access your Word and Excel documents.

LibreOffice can do that and also save as the original version or the newer version. When dealing with clients I always have to keep in mind whether documents will be shared with others and if they have a program installed that can handle the format. As a default the included WordPad is a 'lite' version of Word and can usually handle the simpler formatting, downside is with things like Macros.
