I’d like to hear the opinion of others. That is what a forum is for isn’t it?

I wouldn't touch it either. If you can afford it you can get a boxed Office 2019 with the USB stick for £99 (not sure what it is in dollars).

Thinking logically is of course not a requirement when buying online, but it is strongly recommended. If an obscure seller offers something at price less than 10% of that what the same product costs when bought from original manufacturer, it is absolutely, profoundly clear that it is not legit.

What would you think if someone offered you a new Surface Pro 7 tablet at $70? Would you think it is legit? Of course not.

Or, let's say you are offered a new, 2020 model Mercedes A 220 Sedan at $3,000. Again, not a faintest chance it to be legit.

    Hi folks

With these things "Caveat Emptor" as always -- however not all cheap stuff is illegitimate or pirated -=- Ms still doesn't seem to have made any move to block these things -- and in any case why should buying in Panama to save a few bucks be any different from avoiding tax in one's home jurisdiction by buying things in Luxembourg, Andorra, Republic of Ireland, Vatican City, Bahamas, China etc or even in parts of the US where zero state tax (I think Delaware and Texas still have no state tax --could be wrong though).

If you do get these things the PAY BY CREDIT CARD --then if they don't work you should get your money back.

I've had a few of these cheap Office2019 licenses in the past -- not a single problem with updates, re-activation when installing / re-installing Windows on to different machines etc.

Just be careful, and if there is Piracy involved --report it to the appropriate authorities and also give the key to Ms so it can be blocked.

Things that are dirt cheap aren't always "dubious" -- just be careful and USE BRAIN.

I remember being an undergraduate in the UK years and years ago when the only Sunday shopping allowed was for "perishable goods" -- However people got round the Law as they always do in these circumstances by for example selling "1pound (in sensible measurements - around 500g) of Carrots for goodness knows how much money but with a FREE Sofa / Bed or whatever thrown in. !!!

People will always make the best of a bad situation -- just don't get exploited though !!!). So cheap goods (e,g a Sofa at 0 GBP wasn't always a "Bad Buy".

    Cheers

There are great open source alternatives to Office that spending money isn't necessary. And if you actually need MS office, the subscriptions to Office 365 are cheap. Since it comes with 1TB+ of online cloud storage space, if you were in need of a cloud account with that much space, it's like getting MS office for free since all cloud providers charge at least the same amount for the storage space alone.
