OneNote has take over ... how do I stop it?

This is an HP Pavilion laptop. It has an HP printer installed and I've printed happily for a long time.
Recently all my install files suddenly disappeared and now I can't print at all.

Uninstalled and re-installed printer (with HP CD) and also ran HP trouble shooter (downloaded for the purpose).

When a print command is given One Note arises and I have never used this One Note nor do I wish to
as these days I want as simple as I can get.

The quite urgent printing I need to do remains undone.

Can you direct me to a Tutorial which will guide me to circumvent One Note and get my normal HP printer working again?

@nithig Sounds like 'Send to OneNote' has got set as your default Printer. to change it do the following:-
Go into Settings - Devices - Printers and Scanners - Find your HP Printer and set it as your default Printer.

    ThanksSheltieuk,
followed your instructions and make the HP printer the default again.
Now attempting to print without success ... nothing happens so I'll press on and see what I can find out.

Suggestion in post 2 is good first step. When you attempt to print, is this printer selection dialog visible to select the HP printer, like on mine-

If it does, select the HP and go to the Settings screen in post 2 again and check the box to 'Let Windows manage my default printer'. This will push your last used printer into the main printer box (Save as PDF in my screenshot).
Also recommend downloading the HP Smart app from the MS Store. This app can detect and install the printer, check ink levels, debug problems and let you do all your print, scan function right from within.
    Good Luck

    Thanks mrgeek,
downloaded the HP Smart app and while all looks fine I still can't print.
Yes, I get the list and select the right printer. Also had ticked Let Windows manage default printer.

What gets me is that when something doesn't work I get the MS feedback window and it always says that the laptop is not online
which is quite absurd. Clearly it needs to be online to get to that point ... but I've given up on trying to get help from MS and suspect that so many departments has allowed for real confusion.
    I do appreciate your help!

" while all looks fine I still can't print."

Run Win10 Settings/Update & Security/Troubleshoot/Printer and see what that does. Also, the HP tool you said you grabbed in post 1, is it the HP Print Scan Doctor ? If not get that here and run - https://support.hp.com/us-en/topic/printscandoctor

    thanks again mrgeek,
    downloaded the printscandoctor
Have to stop now but will pick up again in the morning.
Perhaps the domestic wi-fi has been knocked out from the printer...
    Cheers
