You can buy cheap keys via Amazon and eBay. Confirm before purchase that the download link you are given is for a genuine Microsoft server.

How would you confirm the download link before you buy it?

I think it's finally time to move from Word - not that Libre Writer would make it obvious, it looks a virtual clone from the screen shots, i'm surprised there hasn't been legal action :-D
again though, it's a shame you can't just download what you want - I want Writer, I don't want all the spreadsheets and other guff. will check out apache too, thanks

You can't - but if the link isn't what you have been told then the software has been missold contrary to UK consumer law and you are entitled to refund

    Hi there
I think that's only if you pay with a Credit card (applies to most places I know as well as UK) then BANK / Credit card company must return the money -- not the seller fortunately --Good luck if you are trying yourself to recover money from China, Russia etc !!!!!!

Note this protection doesn't apply to debit cards.

If you start getting into consumer law with some of these 3rd party re-sellers then you are on to a loser for starters --especially in UK where the whole court system is hideously expensive and as they've sold off loads of court buildings your case might take years to come to trial --by which time the reseller is long gone --and how do you prove "Intentionally mis-sold" anyway.

Most of these 3rd party licenses appear legit --if it were a problem Ms would surely have done something about it by now don't you think !!!

    Cheers

In such situations I just complain to Amazon or eBay that the adverts they sponsored contravened UK consumer law and the usually pay a refund. Amazon is better at refunds than eBay. I only use UK based suppliers.

I still think going to Lebre Office or Apache Open Office is the best way to go. You can install only what you need.
