Guys, I appreciate the repeated pointers, but I really did set it...... Here's a picture of the options on the system. Unless it's set WRONG in Message Arrival, it's set.

    No new email popup-capture.jpg

I ran an Office repair this morning. I previously had NO outlook.lnk in the folder:

c:\Program Data\Microsoft\Windows\Start Menu\Programs - this is the folder in which I was told the Outlook short cut should go.
I DO, however, have links to ALL the Office applications in
    c:\Program Data\Microsoft\Windows\Start Menu\Programs\Microsoft Office

and AFTER the Office 2019 "repair" I NOW have shortcuts for everything ALSO in
    c:\Program Data\Microsoft\Windows\Start Menu\Programs

What I still DON'T have is a desktop popup to tell me there's email.

FWIW: I just tested the brand new laptop, also running Windows 10 Pro - a month old so I haven't had time to screw up anything new... It ALSO has NO popup, and no sound on incoming email. And yes, I checked Message Arrival, and I checked the sound, which is email.wav, and so on.......
So at the moment NEITHER of the systems (I haven't checked the domestic associates laptop to see if her's is FUBAR'd too) in front of me have an incoming email notification.
I DID remove a bunch of the bloatware on these systems - all the MS garbage apps like Xbox and such, but this desktop has been fine for a couple years when running 2010, so why Office 2019 would be having a fit, I don't know..

Is Focus Assist set to Off? (At Settings, System, Focus Assist.)

(Or if it's set to Priority only, is Outlook in your customized priority list?)

    Hi there
    @GracieAllen

are you running "Windows 10 Kiddies Toy version (Windows 10 Home edition) or any of the other "Proper OS'es" e.g W10 Pro / Workstation edition.

I know even installing Outlook on the "Toy edition" hoses up things -- sometimes it even shows after installing Office 2019 the version Outlook/365 on startup when you've never signed up to that !!

    Cheers

<laughing>No, neither of these systems is running the Kiddies Toy version! I haven't gotten to check it yet, but I THINK the ONLY system in the place that IS working correctly is my wife's laptop, which was formatted and had Windows 10 Home put on a couple weeks ago... I THINK I recall it DISPLAYING the "new mail" popup (but I'm probably wrong)...

I know the two Pro systems aren't displaying it...

I just checked and Focus Assist is Off (on both the laptop and desktop). I also just went over and checked Sound again, just in case it turned itself off or did something else bizarre, but nope, it still thinks it SHOULD make noise... At this point I figure the desktop is haunted - I don't know what to say about the month-old laptop... Maybe I have bad email karma?

    - - - Updated - - -

OK, yet ANOTHER stupid human trick to add to my set... I just rebooted the desktop. And got an email. And a popup. And a sound... In retrospect, should have rebooted after the Office repair?

In any case, thanks a bunch, I now have popups on the desktop. I'm going to run the Office repair on the laptop and REBOOT and see if they work there.

    Gracie,

I'm pleased by your good news. I appreciate that you won't see this post for a little while because you'll be busy making a system image onto an external drive.
