Hi,

I've come across a strange issue with a few Excel files on our file server.

A user (user1) opens an .xlsx file, works on the file and keeps it open for approx 1hr.
Another user (user2) opens the same file, and isn't notified that the file is locked and can only be viewed in 'read-only' mode.

User2 modifies the file, save the file and carries on working, yet User1 modifies the file, saves it and is presented with the message that someone else is accessing the file and no further changes can be made.

So, user 1 should be have 'lock' rights to the file, but for some reason user2 'steals' the rights from user1 and takes temporary ownership.

Has anyone come across the behaviour before?

Both users have Office 365 (2016/2019), running Windows 10, files hosted on Windows Server platform.

Thanks
