OneNote 2016---Activation Wizard for Office Home & Business 2019

I want to use OneNote 2016 without signing into a OneDrive account. I have all of my notebooks on my desktop and have no interest in syncing to the cloud. In addition, suppose I'm off the grid with no internet. I was able to use OneNote 2010 without the internet. How can I do this with OneNote 2016?

    Thank you.

OneNote 2016---Activation Wizard for Office Home & Business 2019

I have downloaded OneNote 2016 from Microsoft's website. When I launch OneNote, I keep getting the Activation Wizard for Office Home & Business 2019. I press Cancel and OneNote 2016 opens correctly. However, I would prefer to bypass this Activation Wizard. Why does it appear for a 2016 product?

    Thanks.

It should activate with your 2019 key
And if you looking to bypass activation - then the problem is all on you..

The OP posted this a week ago. They never mentioned owning Office prior. My guess is that they have never paid for Office and also installed the full version of Office vs just using the built in One Note app for Windows 10.

I thought the One Note 2016 app was free and didn't require a Microsoft Office purchase?

There are two versions. The free one that comes with Windows 10 and the paid version that comes with Office.

I have Office 2013 installed but OneNote on the latest Win10 RTM install has a different name, OneNote for Windows 10.

The Paid version is a desktop application - the free version is a Windows App

FYI, currently the OneNote app installed with Windows 10 is the most current version, whereas OneNote 2016 that gets installed with Office is the older version. And, according to Microsoft, if OneNote is installed (Windows 10) the Office version won't get installed. What that all means is you do not need to buy (or install) Office to get the latest version of OneNote.

Rather than rewrite everything here you can see my post here on this.
