Outlook View Will Not Stay Set in Office 2019

I installed Office 2019 on my computer with Win10x64 (win10 version 1903). For some reason the view in outlook will not stay set to "Preview" after the computer is turned off. When the computer is restarted the view has changed back to "Compact" even though I saved the 'Preview" view prior to shutdown. It appears others have had this problem but I haven't seen a fix. If anyone has a solution would like to know.
    Thanks

This is an addition to "Outlook View Will Not Stay Set in Office 2019. I have uninstalled Office 2019 using Microsoft's clean uninstall tool and reinstalled Office 2019 from the recommended Microsoft Office site. That did not solve the problem. I don't believe the uninstall tool really remove all files such as the profile. I deleted the Outlook Profile and added a new Profile. Nothing seems to work, but I am convinced there is a file or reg entry that is causing the problem. I just don't know where to look.

FWIW my office uses Outlook 2016 and I have the same issue.

Usually it is triggered by scanning through the mail folders in the column at the left of the screen. Upon returning to the favorites list, all folders have had their view reset as you describe.

I cruised through several MS message boards in which this identical problem was reported by multiple posters, and the MS reps gave the usual follow-the-script troubleshooting advice which, of course, accomplished nothing except for wasting the OP's time.
In my case it is a manged PC and so I cannot troubleshoot it myself.

I chalk it up to a persistent bug that MS can't, or won't recognize. My mouse now innately knows the strokes toward the "reset view" icon.

Try starting Outlook in safe mode, e.g. by holding down Ctrl as you click an Outlook icon: Starting Outlook in Safe Mode

As the failure to retain the view setting could be caused by an add-in: Outlook View Settings keep changing

An update to the office suite seems to have fixed the problem so for me this problem is solved.
