Problems with OneNote 2013

I use OneNote 2013 on my PC because I was able to buy a license when I worked for a company that provided copies for its employees -- and I've not had problems with it.

But recently, I noticed my Notebook sections were badly out of date, and rather than update them in NoteBook, I exported them to MS Word, made lots of changes there, and imported them back into OneNote.

Now, however, I notice that I can no longer make any changes to the OneNote section pages. I click on them and I can not position the mouse cursor on a word or letter and while I can go through this Export to Word -- make the changes -- reimport from Word, I would rather not do that for every single trivial change.

Any ideas what I'm doing wrong?

It's up to date, I check it every month or so and just checked it to confirm this.

Yes, it came as part of MS Office 2013 -- the ProPlus version that I bought at part of the HUP offer.

As to updating it to 2016, I don't have a license for that version and I don't have one for Office 365, either.

UPDATE: I fixed it -- quite by accident. Looking at one of the Notes I did not change, I noticed the background was different from the others. Apparently, when I imported from MS Word using the Send-to-OneNote function, that pasted an "image" of the document contents into the Note, not the actual document. When I then deleted that, and simply pasted from MS Word, it pasted it properly and can be edited, now.

"OneNote" is now part of the Windows 10 installation and is the most up-to-date version of the app. "OneNote 2016" is an older version no longer being updated with new features. Microsoft thus recommends using OneNote app installed with Windows.

As for OneNote 2013, I can not speculate as I don't have it. BTW for those running Office 2019 or Office 365....

By default, Office 2019 and Office 365 will not automatically install the OneNote 2016 desktop version, but if you still need or prefer to use this version, you can download it separately and use it alongside your new Office 2019 apps.

All that said, on my Win 10 machine I've got two OneNote apps installed... OneNote, and OneNote 2016 but that again, I've also got Office 365 (Academic version) installed. I use the Windows 10 version though.

BTW I just educated myself on this via your question because I didn't know what the difference was and assumed 2016 was the "newer" version. So thanks :)
