Problems With WORD: Eliminating All Of Auto Formats & Corrections, et

Hello,

Sr. Citizen now, and frankly not too sharp with this
"stuff," so please bear with me.

Using MS WORD on an iMac. Vers. 16.16.13 Used to be fine on Windows 7, but now driving me crazy.
I know this is a W10 Forum, but I imagine someone here can guide me a bit with this.

Just can't get it to stop all of the automatic formatting and corrections
it does. Turned off, I thought, but (some) keeps redoing it on re-starts.

Might someone pleas list ALL of the pull-down items I should click
on and how to set the options, to turn Off, for good, anything it does in the way of
auto formatting, corrections, etc.

Just want the simplest, most basic WORD to use.

I want to decide myself on line spacing, paragraph spacing, bullets, indents, etc., etc.

Hi Bob.

Can I ask how you are disabling?

If you start Word, then click on Word along the top menu and then click "Preferences" from the drop down you should be able to disable.

I guess the next question is are you starting documents from blanks. I imagine if you use an existing document as a base the formatting may still be active.

Of course the world is filled with bad code and maybe you've uncovered some sort of bug.

What version of MacOS are you using. Shouldn't really matter but if it is much older there could be an issue with the way Word is interacting with OS.

Thanks for help with this.

I'm embarrassed, as I never thought to look under that "WORD" menu at "Preferences" there.

All seems fine now.

For new documents I define formatting for all new documents by modifying normal dotm template:

Change the Normal template (Normal.dotm ) - Word

Oofice on Mac OS does seem to have a easier way of navigating the preferences compared to Windows. I would rather have Office preferences in MacOS over Windows any day.
