For a clean install take some time and collect some of your current information.

Backup your data, check you have it all and that you can open files.

Inventory the software you have installed, for browser inventory your extension. I would Sync what ever browser you are using with the cloud, so in chrome or fire fox sign in. In edge if you are using an MS set the settings to sync. (Basically we want to capture the favorites or bookmarks.

Next look through your software and gather the license keys for all products requiring keys like Word. Uninstall your licenses before you start, things like Macrium, Superantispyware, Photoshop etc. Deauthorize any streaming products like itunes or spotify. (Watch Games)

This might be an ideal point to change your boot storage, SSD have really come down in price and a 250GB SSD for a boot drive will meet most needs. Then your spinner can be used for data. We have a good tutorial to move it to a D: drive.

To do a clean install we have this tutorial. Looks long but it isn't.

    Clean Install Windows 10

Windows should reactivate on the reinstall.

Once you are up and you have your software installed and activated look at taking an image you can keep. Sometimes this is called a Gold image and can be use in the future to get you back to a fully installed base instead of another clean install.

Then load your data. If you go the two storage drives you can use this tutorial to relocate each library.

Move Location of Documents Folder in Windows 10

Libraries and locations to move to your spinner include documents, pictures, music, videos, desktop and downloads. There is a tutorial for each but they are basically all the same.

Ask any questions you want. Lots of members ready to help.

    Sorry not following.

Myself I would not be using any product for backup.

Right click Documents on C:, click copy and then paste to to an external drive. Do the same for Music, pictures, videos, downloads and desktop.

Do you use Outlook XXXX for mail or do you use a web browser???

    Are you a gamer??

Once you have your data and licenses (and the other items I mentioned in the previous post) you are ready to go. Don't worry about uninstalling any programs.

Part of the clean install is to delete all partitions on your boot drive and then let windows do its install.

This is why it is so important to copy out data, capture licenses, de-authorize services and licenses.

yes your system Image will or should backup all your data. I still like to make a plain copy and paste and then test I can read it. It is also easier to copy back in when the install is done.

Windows 10 for the most part will load all the drivers you need. Dell uses standard industry devices and as such I've found that Dell machines load very nicely with a clean install.

Do you use Office Outlook XXXX ??

Are you a gamer? I Ask if you are a gamer as you will have to look up how to back up and restore your game info. Yes your image will capture data but you still have to find on backup and restore it.
