    Office 2016 UI Language change: can't install exe pack

    I've purchased 2016 office in Polish and tried to make English the default UI language. Downloaded us-en language pack from Microsoft but running the setup file ends with "Sorry we couldn't install.. Error code 30029-1011(0)". In Word language settings the UI and help language is set to the same as system language but I have an English W10.

    Hi there

    @decimus

    instead of trying the "manual" install can you go to settings within office itself :

    You'll have to locate the equivalent - but in properties (do it from outlook is the easiest) choose Language and you should be presented with "Local experience language" from the store which certainly downloads and installs without any problem at least on Office 2019 -- I also had no probs on Office 2010 -- I don't see why Office 2016 would be any different though.

    You can also change as well as the display - the editing language -- I forgot to do that once so if you have different editing and display languages you'll get riddled with "spelling errors" etc. Click on the Langauage option and you'll see the display and editing options (as well as input options if you want to use different keyboards).

    Cheers

    @jimbo thank you for replying. I actually tried to do it from the language settings withing office apps but the interface still remains Polish. I installed the Local experience language (EN) from the store and set it as default. I can type and change typing languages but I need English interface for Office. This is what I see in Language options in Outlook (underlined is default UI and help language which is the same as system's - EN. But the interface is still in Polish. Restart doesn't change anything.

    Well, I just contacted the seller and asked for an English copy. Uninstall-install anew-enjoy. Still don't know why I couldn't localize the interface. Why are you making it so difficult, Microsoft? Anyway, marking it solved. Kind of.

    I am aware this is over, and marked as solved.. but, did you install the same EN language as Windows display language? EN-UK? Because one of the languages in picture above is English (Denmark) ...

    In the end I can second your solution.. I always install EN-US versions, and add local language packs later. It can be done later, but one never know where could the problems occur.

    No, the additional Danish pack is for my keyboard (I've got pan-nordic keyboard layout) and my Windows system language is En-UK. That's why I was surprised to see UI and Help language set to default system but Office interface was still in Polish.

    You need language pack for your keyboard? I just add one in Windows settings / language...

    No, I added keyboard language layout from Windows, of course. My problem was Office apps interface language.
