    The price suggests the Subscription version at a monthly rate. There's several plans available.

    Hi folks

    @Berton
    @Tsw88

    some of these licenses are fine -- but as always AYOR !!!! --Use a CREDIT and not a DEBIT card to purchase so if it all goes pear shaped you will be insured by the Bank / Credit Card company to get your money back. (EU/EEA countries --probably also in USA/Canada / AUS/NZ -- easy to check with your countries Consumer Credit protection Laws. Also buy from big suppliers like Amazon etc.

    I've had about 4 of these licenses from Amazon for around 20 EUR each for Office 2019 Pro and they all activate fine and I'm sure if these were illegal Ms would be taking great pains to stop them. Of course there will be some "illegal" operators out there but most of these licenses are currently OK if got from well known markets such as Amazon.

    They also update perfectly, survive new Windows build updates and can be re-installed on Clean windows installs -- you get a link to a genuine .img/.iso image--run the setup.exe from the mounted .img/.iso image (or the setup64.exe for 64 bit version) and you are good to go.

    Activation is fine --no "Mak" keys / other "activation" software mechanisms as one sees on some of the more popular torrent sites such as that well known place still flying "The Jolly Roger" flag -- just enter serial number and it activates perfectly.

    Image shows for my copy on this machine in Icelandic text " Product activated" where I've ticked it . You probably in English will get the text "product activated".

    Sorry What does it mean "AYOR "?

    I am neither in USA nor Canda and I've never been to those countries.

    In a conclusion, is that safe to use those accounts? Did you mean
    they are illegal licesnse?

    In fact, such cheap licenses also sold in Asia, how do they get them? Same way as those in USA / Canda?

    AYOR = At your own risk

    Is it safe? Are they legal? - Nobody can answer those questions. Jimbo has tried to explain that there is a good chance of at least getting your money back if they are fake but nobody can go any further than that.

    And do note what Berton posted above. The price you are referring to might be the monthly subscription price.

    Hi there
    I suspect these licenses were probably obtained by some sort of mass OEM volume licensing with Ms -- who knows what Ms's licensing policy is these days -- These licenses currently aren't causing any financial or security headache currently --if these were actually downright illegal I'm sure Ms would be having some sort of Court Tussle with Amazon etc - or if not any actual Court cases then I'm sure we'd have heard about it through various news / social media sources.

    Ms makes most of its money these days via Cloud (Azur), consultancy services, other I.T services (contractors etc), A.I. Robotics, X-box, new corporate / military strength computer security services and office/365 subscriptions so currently Ms can't really be bothered too much with these cheap copies. Even Windows itself isn't such a money spinner itself any more - as the free upgrade to W10 from some editions of W7, W8 and W8,1 still keep on working over 3 years after that program ended. With the iminent end of life of W7 I suspect the free upgrades will long continue.

    However all I say is if you think the risk is worth taking there's nothing to stop you from buying these licenses -- especially as Ms hasn't said anything about these being Pirated / Illegal copies --which is not to say Piracy doesn't happen. I'm quite sure anybody whose been to parts of Shanghai could probably get any piece of software on the planet for a few EUR/USD etc in minutes and without even needing to speak a single word of any dialect of Chinese. !!!! This is a totally different issue of course.

    Cheers

    I would suggest that the old Adage " If a deal looks too good to be true, then in almost invariably is" is pertinent here

    Microsoft has always relied on the sales of Volume licencing based software and although they are now diversifying, into multiple areas of revenue, this is, to the best of my knowledge, still true, after all the "free" upgrade has never applied to businesses.

    Now, due to the nature of the volume licencing for business use there is always a "free" period before checks are commenced for validity. This is I believe between Ninety and One Hundred and Twenty days - after this time the software will "Phone home" to the Key Management Server,[KMS]. The KMS is normally accessible only within a LAN to prevent Fake online Servers

    Due to the nature of Business where Agents and representatives may be away from the KMS for extended periods it is possible to set an extended period for the requirement to access to a KMS, For example you can "Miss" a "Phone Home" action for a number of periods. Eventually the software will flag the OS or Software Package as counterfeit, but this can take quite a while if the original settings are well set up

    There is also of course the hacking of the Software and supply of a Fake KMS, which runs on the local system and answers the Call to the Real KMS, these are often shown up when the bad programming of the fake causes it to fail

    So my opinion of these Cheap offers is to advise that you ignore them, as a private user you have the option of the free upgrade and also there are many free open source alternatives to MS Office (although I have found that these can cause issues working with actual office software, where Page layout is critical)

    The risk is if MS change their policy at some future point then the licenses, being digital, can be revoked by MS.
    They want the user base to be as big as possible for W10/Office 365 as their business model morphs to SaaS subscription based.

    Being a bit cynical I'm sure most of the big players are happy for people to get on board via various 'routes' and then when there is a huge number of dependents they could then start turning the screw around the license 'validity' (OEM/installer volume et al) ...

    Caveat emptor...

    Looks like a legit deal to me, since they are supplying a KEY and not some USERNAME and PASSWORD.
    After activation, if you wish to know whether it is really genuine or not, run the following command:
    1. cscript "%ProgramFiles%\Microsoft Office\Office16\ospp.vbs" /dstatus (If you install 64-bit Office)
    2. cscript "%ProgramFiles(x86)%\Microsoft Office\Office16\ospp.vbs" /dstatus (If you install 32-bit Office)
    The License Description should show a retail license.

    Hi folks

    @RK1997

    Hope your Indian Banks are as bad as these ones !!!.

    Even if the thing does expire after 180 days or whatever these things are still cheaper than those dreadful subscription things where the Banks don't even insist on "Direct Debit" but these really hideous things called "Continuous Payment Authority" . This is a HORRENDOUS way of paying for stuff since in order to cancel the Bank actually needs to get authority from the SUPPLIER and not YOU !!! so often the only way to cancel is to get a new CC / Debit card -- just say you've lost your original ones.

    How is it that Banks and other people go for this sort of scheme --at least in some countries this type of payment is now being made illegal -- Thank goodness.

    I've read hideous horror stories of where people can't cancel things like GYM memeberships etc because they've signed up to these "Continuous Payment Authority" deals and the supplier refuse to allow cancellation. If you have any of these things CHANGE THEM QUICK to DD's or better to Standing orders (Banks are reluctant to offer those any more but that is by far the best wat to keep control over your own money --Banks can't increase payments at will on those). With DD's you can agree Banks can increase your payments but they have to give notice, SO's they can't unless you make a totally new SO, and those horrors of CPA's no notice is required whatsover of any increase and you have in general to get the Suppliers permission to cancel !!!!!! Unbelievable in 2019 isn't it.

    UK is endemic with these things -- there Banks must be the most Swindly" and rapacious on the planet -- UK Base rate central Bank around 0.75% -- typical Credit card rates over on that Island -- 37.5% == what a nonsense !!!!! and nobody has the gall to complain over the mismatch. At least in the USA while Banks are also rapacious the customer has a chance of a better deal. and a load of credit cards at around 12 - 18%.

    Cheers
