WIN10 and Office 2003 Pro

I managed to install Office 2003 Pro on two WIN 10 computers. I had no real problem with the install. I was able too get all my old Access databases and my old spreadsheets connected to the programs and working just fine. I think I had a Windows update occur and MS tried to force me into a newer version of Office. I got out of that "force mode", but I had to reinstall Office. My spreadsheets and databases work again.

Am I going to have to endure this behavior every time MS drops an update on me? Is therer away to keep the setup as I have it not be troubled?

Today (this PM) I found my Office 2003 Pro not to open my files. Instead MS tried one again to push me to whatever automatically comes with WIN10 Home. I Had to re-install Office Pro 2003. I checked my update log and found the following updates for Office 2003: KB907417, KB2726929, KB2878303, KB2817480. There are more. Some as far back of 8/15/19.

Some failed, some were successful.

I should add the following. By Pushing me, I mean it want me to activate the Office version that comes with WIN10. All my Excel, Word, and Access files have had their icons changed to use the Office version that comes with WIN10. Of, course, I never notice that subtle change and when I open the file, I get the new Office program with no data and with a smaller window on the screen within the office program to activate Office. Then I have to click on the "popup" form several times to get out. In order to use Office 2003, I need to reinstall the product.

No need to reinstall, all you have to do is change the default apps for your Office files back to your Office 2003 ones.

when I tried that, I could not find the 2003 in the list. I will study your "Choose Default Apps in Windows 10" in more detail.

If your Office 2003 apps do not appear in the list, then you can use Option Two, step 3 from that tutorial and browse this PC to find them.

If the app you want to choose as the default to open this file with is not listed, then you can use either option below.

More apps = Will list more apps to select from, and give you more options.

• Look for another app on this PC = Allows you to browse to and select an app to open this file with.

Well MSFT tried once again to force me into Office 365. I tried what was previously suggested. I browsed to the correct program , but the system would not accept it. It kept referring back to Office 365. I had to re-install Office 2003 pro. Then the link remained.

What would happen if I uninstall Office 365? I also noticed that I two copies of Microsoft 2003 Pro installed. But only one shows up Program Files(x86).
