Excel macro stopped working after upgrading to v.1903

I hate this kinda stuff. My desktop was working fine. So I gave in and installed the update v.1903 and now all I have to do is fix problems (Teaches you something about those updates, doesn't it?)

So I have this Excel file that has my own signed macros in it. It used to open just fine. (I think I have Excel 2007.) Now after this update when I try to run the macro it gives me this error:

Cannot run the macro 'Financial.xls!FirstOne'. The macro may not be available in this workbook or all macros may be disabled.

Note that the macro trust setting has it enabled as such, that has been working before:

How do I make it work?

This has happened to my Office 2007 VBA a few times as well. [I know we are out of support but it used to happen once in a blue moon even before that]

1 You can avoid the problem by using Trust centre, Trusted locations instead. That will not fix anything for Outlook 2007 since that does not have that facility.

2 Run Office diagnostics - that fixed it for me on at least one occasion

3 On one computer, I installed the current Office 2007 updates.

4 At one stage, I set the Outlook 2007 Trust centre to Warn for all macros so that I could get on with things while the fault was present. It is possible that the dialog that appears did on one occasion contain a button for Trust this publisher but I am not sure [it would explain my para 5]. This setting only exists in the Outlook Trust centre not the Excel, ... ones but I rely on Trusted locations for them now anyway.
I made a note of these two MS articles at the time but they might have just been background reading rather than solutions -
Digitally sign your macro project - Office Support
Add, remove, or view a trusted publisher - Office Support

5 On yet another occasion, I created a new cert and managed to get it accepted in the Trust centre, Trusted publishers section but I never understood why, for the first ever time, it should let me add a local cert there. I signed the code using that new cert either before or after adding it to Trusted publishers {my notes are not at all clear about the whole incident}.

That's about it. I've checked through my logs and that's all the useful info I could find.

Thanks for the help (and sorry for the late response.)

I gave up. Nothing worked. Had to enable "Macros for everything." Otherwise it wouldn't work. Stupid af. I haven't changed anything except installed that v.1903. Now it's too late to go back. But I might have fixed it for the future. Disabled those damn updates for good! No more crap like this. Should've done it long time ago.

And now it has happened to me again [only on Outlook because I use Trusted locations for Excel etc].

I have not had the time for anything except a very quick attempt at fixing it without success so far.

I am traveling away tomorrow and will probably wait until the end of next week before even looking again.

On yet another occasion, I created a new cert and managed to get it accepted in the Trust centre, Trusted publishers section but I never understood why, for the first ever time, it should let me add a local cert there. I signed the code using that new cert either before or after adding it to Trusted publishers {my notes are not at all clear about the whole incident}.
I did try that but have been unable to add the cert to Trusted publishers so far. Like you, I suspect that I did something else the last time but failed to record it / failed to undertand what I had done - I cannot find any help in my own notes.

I will post again if I find a reliable fix.

Yes, that would be nice. If you find a solution please post it here. I'll try to do the same.
