    Warning to Outlook Users when Offline is enabled is impossible to see


    It is almost like MS doesn't want people to notice.

    No one at the office here uses Offline mode and most never heard of it. I know it is a constant problems with people thinking their Outlook is dead. Everyone swears they never changed to Offline mode but it happens anyway.

    The Icon on the Outlook Ribbon that differentiates Offline mode from Online mode shows the small Red (x) on the same globe. The only change being a dark or light background.

    Is there is a way to make the notice a 10pt font and in RED or something more noticeable

    Or Better: is there a way to disable the option for Offline Mode for those who don't want it? A registry edit to disable it would be fine.

    Nope. It really depends on the size of monitor and screen resolution.

    I guess I ave to accept this in that case.
    If not for or issues with autodiscover failing in Desktop Outlook, the question probably would never have come up. One of the MS techs mentioned that maybe our problems were related to the user being in 'Offline Mode'. But that isn't the case for their problem anyway. A better option would be to disable it for one system just to rule out that possibility.

    If you have ever heard of anyone finding a solution to autodiscover failures with Desktop Outlook please PM me. And it would have to be a radically different solution than anything Searchable via Google . The MS Forums have several threads full of others like us but no one has found a "one size fits all" solution much less any kind of logical reason for the problem.

    None of the MS "Fix-it" suite of "SARA"-tools nor anything else we can find have helped. The ONLY thing that finally worked was to delete the user's email account, wait at least 10 hours for all chances of any caching to clear, then create a new account with the same name as the old one.

    This is not a viable solution for multiple reasons, but it showed me that there is a relationship to the specific users' accounts.

    Interestingly, when i recreated that user using the same name their email worked normally....for about a week. They are still better even now at the 3 week point than they were to start with but the same issues are starting to reappear. This test was a desperate attempt and cannot be repeated due to mail flow interruptions but it helped show that the problem is username specific in some way. And currently happens to only 2 out of 50 users on this domain. With occasional problems on possibly 3 others. The remaining 45 have NEVER seen anything like it.

    This issue ONLY interferes with their use of Desktop Outlook which is why I strongly feel it is in some way tied to Autodiscover. The User has full access with no problems using Outlook on the WebPortal. But Desktop fails to connect more than 70% of the time. A problem that continues to happen on the same users time after time regardless of what equipment they use or where they are physically located. Almost 6 months of this with the past three involving some pretty high level techs at MS who also have no solution.
