    Excel launching on start up

Anyone find office apps launching on start up recently? It’s doing it on both our machines. We have 365 and use excel most. We always ensure the program is shut when doing shutdown. It’s a small issue but slightly irritating to see it launch when logging in

Hi, you can find out where that's coming from either with
    Autoruns (free)
    or - if it's a scheduled task- using e.g.
Task Scheduler Viewer for Windows 10/7/8/Vista
    - gives you a simple flat searchable list.

To give you the option (prompt) of stopping startups being added to the registry, a useful small tool is this ancient freeware:

Thank you I’ll check this out. Just seems odd it started happening out of nowhere of late on both our machines. I don’t know if it began after an office update or even 1903 update. I even thought it might be a learning feature of windows seeing as we use it so much. But that seems unlikely !

Hi guys, I think I know why this happens now. Seems to be a bug in latest windows / office 365 combo. When closing the programs they are not necessarily fully closing. Looking at task manager even when excel is closed shows it still active under processes (albeit consuming 0%). Does it on word too (haven’t tried other programs). Has side effect of causing outlook to hang on loading profile of a task is not killed for excel
