    Problem with Office 365 account

Machine is a Dell Inspiron 4477 AIO running Windows 10 1809 and Office 365.

Today I decided to check for updates to Office so I opened Excel, chose File/Accounts and got a message saying, "there were problems with my account. To fix them please sign in again." plus a box to check saying 'fix Me'. I clicked that box and saw Something wrong with error code 0x8009016. I queried that code and found nothing that seemed to apply to my situation.

Office 365 on my laptop doesn't exhibit the problem and got an update with no problem.

What do I need to do to fix the problem ?

I can access my Office account via the web just fine.

    Thank you.

    Hi JJG10

If you open Word in the upper right hand corner are you "Signed In"? If not can you sign in? I might even log out and then sign in to prove it is okay.

Have you restarted your device, not a shutdown, a restart so we know you are getting a fresh copy of Windows?

Have you changed any passwords recently, there was some news reports that MS had a breach and for imapcted users they change passwords. I didn't receive an email saying I was impacted but I changed passwords just because.

Are any of your regular Window Updates failing silently in background?
