office 2013 to do emails disappear when emails are backed up

    hello,

i had mmmmmany to do items in my emails... i have created a pst to back up those emails, unfortunately, all my todo items have disappeared from the task menu. i find it hard to believe they all went away! is there an option to reactivate them or something i need to do when moving the emails to a pst (drag and drop) to not loose them?

    thanks

    Hi passcal

When you say you exported emails just for my clarification, you clicked file, open & export, couple more screens and when you got down to what to export you expanded the appropriate email account and found the "Task" folder and exported it.

When you setup Outlook 2013 you no doubt added at least one email account.

Were these Tasks within this account, would have sync'ed to that account and likely would have synced to phone or were you placing these Tasks within the PST (Personal data file) and they were only available within Outlook 2013?

When you click on Task, what you circled in red, in the upper left corner you should see a couple of headings. May have to expand "My Tasks" and the "To-Do List". Under this heading you should see Tasks -email account, Tasks (This computer) and Tasks -Personal folders. Have you confirm these tasks don't show in any sub-heading.

If you click File, Account Settings, Account Settings, Data Files tab is the right selection designated as default. Everyone can have a different "Right", my default data account is my email outlook.com account. Some could choose Personal Folders.

    Glad the forum could help.

Wonder why it changed doing a backup.

You need a pilot's license to live with Outlook.
