Transfering old emails from Outlook 07, Win7 to new win10 build

My current build is Windows 10 and have installed MS Outlook 2016 Pro Plus.

I have a backup copy of my Outlook 2007 PST file from my previous computer that had Windows 7 Home. In fact, I have my old hard drive with all my MS Office 2007 files on it.
My old emails, up to about a year ago, were downloaded from the server and saved on the hard drive.

How do I get these old emails into Outlook 2016 on my new computer?
So far, I have set up one of my emails and have it set to view (and leave a copy on the server) the emails from the last year, but I would like to have the old emails also if possible.
    Thanks,
    Cork

    Cork,

In the Outlook 2016 left-hand pane ["Navigation pane"], click on the folder icon at the bottom to get into folder view. [You can also use the View menu, Folder pane item to play around with this]

Outlook 2016, File menu, Open & export - open your Outlook 2007 pst file and you can move anything you want from there into your 2016 file.

When you have finished, close the Outlook 2007 pst file or it will re-open every time you start Outlook 2016.

You can then return your Folder view for the left-hand pane to whatever you prefer.

You could have configured your email to use an IMAP mail server which synchronises your emails across all devices. When using IMAP, you just configure your email account to use the same IMAP server and all your emails should synchronise and appear n the new account.

    Hi there

you don't even need to import the .pst file -- just open in outlook and then copy / move all emails etc to your new folders.

Close the pst file again and you are done.

For contacts etc I'm not sure what you would do -- there must be some way of copying addresses etc. I've found on the whole those import type options don't usually work as well or reliable as simply opening the old .pst file.

    Cheers

    Thanks all for the input!

Well, I got it done but it took longer than I had planned and it's not exactly as it was before, but it is working and I have all my old emails.
In Outlook 07 I had my multiple Comcast email addresses set up as POP accounts, all coming in to the same Inbox, showing all in the same Sent and Deleted Items, and all in one .PST file.

On my work computer, which had Outlook 07 set up the same way, I just installed Office 2016 and it automatically set up Outlook 2016 exactly as it was in 07, Favorites, Contacts, everything. After everything was checked out and working properly, I uninstalled Office 07. This being a new build 07 wasn't on there.

In hindsight, I'm wondering if it wouldn't have been quicker to install 07 and import the old file, then do 2016 over it.

No. This way was cleaner and I learned a lot along the way.
Thanks again all for your valuable input.
