Ok then. I have only ever seen an email address at the top of the FolderList view for IMAP/EAS. It is perfectly possible to display a pst file as Fred@Whatever.com within Outlook even with pop accounts [the pst filename would be different].

Do right-click on that email address on yours to check the full path & filename fo the pst file in use [right-click, Properties, Advanced]

    So I'm back to suspecting
1 AutoArchiving settings - but I cannot say where you get at them in Outlook 2010. You might have set it to delete the original emails or even to delete them without making a copy in Archive.pst but I do not believe that it could have removed the folder itself.
2 Those older pst files. Perhaps you used to have one open routinely and it contained the Correspondence folder or perhaps you opened one and accidentally moved the folder into it].
For both cases, I suggest opening every pst file in turn [File, Open, Outlook data file, …] and having a look. You might even search in File explorer, ThisPC for ext:pst to make sure there are no others lurking about.

I am not convinced that archiving has anything to do with this problem but I have managed to find a guide that you can use now just to check settings and that you can consider properly later on.

This shows you where you can check your auto-archive settings in Outlook 2010

but don't forget to check individual folders as well by right-clicking them in FolderList then Properties, AutoArchive.

My pst file I am using is called (myemailaddress).pst as appears at the head of the nav pane. My lost folder can only be in that pst file I haven't had any others open for months.

Then all I can imagine is that you have accidentally deleted that Correspondence folder. But I do not know how that recovery utility you first mentioned can see the folder without ScanPST also being able to see it.
    - Check ScanPST's log file for any reference to the lost folder
    - Unless there is anything left in your Deleted items folder then the only other place you can look is in the pst files in your routine backups. I do not know if you included your pst files in your routine backups - they can easily be overlooked if they are in awkward folders such as %UserProfile%\AppData\Local\Microsoft\Outlook

Then have a look at these
    - Recover messages deleted from .pst files - SlipStick
    - Are Deleted Items gone forever in Outlook - SlipStick
I have seen a lot of SlipStick advice over the years so I'd say her advice [Diane Poremsky] is probably amongst the best you could find. The first link above is about a way of tricking ScanPST into recovering a deleted file so it does seem to be what you are after. Naturally, you'd run the routine on a copy of the file not the real pst just in case it all goes wrong.

    Hi there

    @woldsweather

Using POP3 these days is a bad idea -- especially when you have more than one device that can access the email -- if you really still need to use POP3 ensure "Mail left on Server" otherwise it will get copied to whatever local device is acessing it. POP3 is particularly "Unfriendly" when it comes to mobile phones as depending on the email package you might not even get the option to leave mail on the server anyway.

Just use IMAP and if you want stuff in local folders just manually copy to relevant folders from within the outlook application.

However another solution is possible -- do you have any system backups --if you have - especially if it's macrium just mount the image and just then with outlook open any .pst files you see in the image backup - you might see your "lost folder" which you can then copy to wherever you need it.

    Cheers
