How to remove non-functional Office 2016 "Store App" icons in Start?
Greetings, TenForums.
Could I trouble you for some assistance with a spontaneous problem that has occurred on my Win10 (v1709) system with regard to MS Office (2016, 365 exe version)? Any help would sure be appreciated!
The Problem: I have had Office 2016 365 installed for a few months, and all worked as expected, until a couple of days ago, I noticed duplicate shortcuts to each Office program in the Start menu. One of those shortcuts is a normal *.lnk, leading to the relevant program. The other is not a shortcut, but a Store App icon (as seen from the context menu options, or lack thereof - e.g. no "Open file location", but "Rate and Review" is available). The Store App icon for each Office program does not work, as I don't have the Store version installed, having got rid of a Store-based demo version that came with my PC months ago; the only thing I forgot to get rid of was the "My Office" app (which has sat there and been useless for ages).
What I've tried: Not only are the Store Office App icons non-functional duplicates, but I cannot get rid of them. Right-click-->Uninstall does nothing, resetting the Store does nothing, deleting the Start menu icon cache does nothing, CCleaner does nothing. I tried uninstalling the "My Office" app, in case that had something to do with it (did nothing). I'm at the end of my tether, and have no idea how to get rid of the annoying icons. I asked on a few subReddits, but got no better recommendations than "Reinstall Windows" (new computer, clean, everything else works, and it's taken me months to get it "set up" as I like it).
Do any of you knowledgeable people have any ideas?
