    Windows Office 2010 for just € 5,- ?

    Saw that in a thrift store but decided not to buy it. But the package looked real, the code looked real, the DVD looked real... but I think the code with it will not work (2nd Hand)

    Or did I just passed away a bargain?

    Hi folks

    @RingTailCoon
    Goede Morgen !!

    a lot of those probably have old technet / msdn serial numbers - the program was scrapped because so many of these serial numbers found their way on to the net -- each serial number even on retail iso's could be activated multiple times -- I think somethiong like 10 so the program encourged this type of "Piracy" and was stopped a while ago -- legit serial numbers though still work (if you are an old technet / msdn subscriber your serials still have no problems).

    So the serial number might be blacklisted by Ms but for 5 EUR or whatever it might be worth the risk.

    Office 2010 is in life until Q4 2020 and still gets updates and security patches. Personally I don't think that the newer versions of office have anything of real value to offer over 2010 apart from possibly some sort of "Working in teams" sort of rubbish which I don't need and in any case with things like SKYPE etc there's other ways to do that.

    If you use OUTLOOK then all the newer versions of OUTLOOK (2016/2019/365) are the wretched click2run versions and it's all but impossible to set up email accounts if you have any slightly non standard servers that don't exist in the current Ms install database - there's no easy way to tirn off the automatic configuration process -- you can with a bit of difficulty do it via control panel but that also isn't 100% foolprrof either. Office 2010 uses the old setup where everything is easily configurable.

    Cheers
