    The Office trial expired, what??

I've been running Office 2013 Professional for 4-5 years by now, the system started out as Windows 8.1. During this time the system had been restored from MR backup numerous times and had no issues with the Office licensing.

About a week ego, the system had been restored from MR image backup and had no issues with licensing until today. Started up the system and Outlook today, this is what popped up after couple of hours:

    The Office trial expired, what??-o13.jpg

The picture is a combination of asking for and entering the product key.

After doing so and clicking on "Install" in the second image, Outlook locked up solid and had to be closed in Task Manager. Starting up Outlook again resulted in "not responding" error and subsequent force closing of the app.

Closed all programs, rebooted the system, started Outlook and it runs just fine. The "File\Office Account\Product Information" show this:

    The Office trial expired, what??-o13-active.jpg

While I am glad that simply rebooting the system fixed this ailing...

What causes this sort of errors and how to prevent it to reappear in the future?

    TIA...

"Dark days" are already here, my system is Windows 10... but seriously...

There's no way that MS will force me to update to O365, even if I know that O13 isn't much different from the telemetry perspective. My test system has Linux Mint with LibreOffice, Thunderbird, Vivaldi browser and like it so far. I will miss Visio 13, but don't use it as much as I used to anyway...

I would submit a ticket to their office support site and see what they say.

It's been couple of days with no issues with the license, marked as resolved by rebooting the system...

Just to be sure, we could check that you do not have any conflicting license information on your system. Open an elevated Command Prompt and go to your Office folder.

    32 bit Office 2013:

    cd "C:\Program Files (x86)\Microsoft Office\Office15"

    64 bit Office 2013:

    cd "C:\Program Files\Microsoft Office\Office15"

    Now check the license status:

    cscript ospp.vbs /dstatus

Take a screenshot of Command Prompt showing all license information and post it here. Notice that information shown does not contain any personal information, and only 5 last characters of any product keys are shown.

Not the same issue but just the same - I have had the Preview going which expires 01/01/2019 - don't think it's quite for me so clean intalled Office 2013 on my newly built PC - after umpteeth activations on my previous PC's ( and kids') - it would not activate online - so I thought let's do phone activation.. only to get the messsage that "Telephone activation no longer supported" ( no phone number listed)

Horror of horrors.. ... LOL - but it still works
error when activating Office - Office Support

I used the mobi site (the MS Robo-chick actually sends the link to your phone.. very cool!)

The licensing is fine and traced the issue to PEBCAK...

After restoring the Macrium image, Office needed to reactivate the license. Windows Firewall Control (WFC) blocks Office accessing the Internet as a standard on my system and as such, Office could not activate. WFC is set to delayed start, that allowed Office to activate the license after rebooting the system. In retrospect, everything looks simple, especially when I can remember what I did...

Just out of curiosity, didn't actually need to activate Office 2013, I tried it and had the automated Mr. Robo-guy in my case. What was really cool is that the Robo-guy gave me the option of the call being recorded, or not. Maybe I'll change my mind about MS telemetry and data collection...
