Just thought I'd add this, I Copied a large part of this page, opened Microsoft Word 2000 on my Windows 10 Version 1809 Build 17763.168, Pasted then both File, Save and File, Save As worked as designed. Also haven't had any issues with USB Thumb drives. The Notebook is rather old, a Dell Vostro 1510. My take on all the posts about issues with the latest Versions and Build updates to them leads me to believe most of the problems are with newer hardware, my newest is a 2-year-old Desktop.

There's a couple of things that can be done in the line of diagnostics, one is to obtain a free Linux LiveDVD for testing the USB ports and the other is to install the free LibreOffice [or one of the other freebies available] to test the saving issue.

    Good Day Alll
i plugged in my key for office 2010 and said its not valid it been valid fot the past 6-7 years getting updates and all

NOT HAPPY this is for 1809 update?
Checked known issues about 1809 Windows upgrade..
Microsoft and Morphisec have identified an issue on devices that have installed Morphisec Protector or another application that uses the Morphisec Software Development Kit (SDK) including: Cisco AMP for Endpoints. These applications may impact customers’ ability to use the ‘Save As…’ dialog when saving documents in Microsoft Office applications. Saving of files is not impacted. (32-bit versions only)
Do you have any of this installed?

Temporary solution would be to first create a file (via new... in context menu, or copy file and rename it) and then saving it normally when edited.

We will find solution in time ...

Can you post a picture of what you're getting (that save as dialog)?

I have Office 2000 with Word version 9 working okay on Windows 10 Version 1809 Build 17763.194. I checked under its Tools, Options then the File Location tab and the default location set is C:\Users\Owner\Documents. That setting may be an issue especially if removable media was involved.

Word 2010, 2013, 2016 and 2019 cannot save files in Windows v. 1809, if a COM add-in is enabled (specifically Adobe PDFMaker).

There is a temporary workaround, until the Redmond geniuses provide a fix!

    1. Open Word as Administrator.
    2. Go to: File > Options > Add-ins
    3. At the bottom, select: COM Add-ins and press Go
    4. Disable (uncheck) all available Add-ins and specifically "Acrobat PDFMaker Office COM Addin" and click OK
    5. Restart Word.

You should be able to save now.
