In Win 7, I had a number of files, for example Alaska Railway where when I clicked on it, a song was sung by Patsy Cline while the program showed slides of a train traveling through Alaska. In Win 10 it just shows the slides with no music. This happens on other presentations also. Is this normal or am I missing something?
I just opened a .pps file dated in 2012 on my Win10 Version 1809 Notebook with Microsoft Office 2000/PowerPoint 9 and it played the accompanying music. Don't have only the PowerPoint Viewer installed on anything just now but generally speaking it should play the same way.
Note: Office 2016 is the first suite to have the individual applications with the same version number, i.e. Office 2016 applications are Version 16 in Help, About.
Update: I have the free LibreOffice 6 installed with its Impress and it plays the sound in the same .pps file I tested with in PowerPoint.

After reading your reply I started looking a little more and found the problem. I had forgotten to mention that I was using Open Office with Powerpoint viewer. After looking at all the options on the tool bar I found one at the far right entitled "Slide Show". It playes the music and showes the slides.
