Detailed customized installation for Office 2019 possible?

    Hello,

I have read that Office 2019 is no longer available in the form of a Windows .msi installation in which you could select the Office apps and various other features that you want to install.

There is luckily an Office Customization Tool that makes customization possible for Office 2019 as well. However, it only let's you select which Office apps you want to install. There are several other detailed features such as Telemetry, SharePoint, certain proofing languages, etc. that I usually don't install with previous versions of Office.

Is it in any way possible to prevent these features from installing when installing Office 2019??

    Hi there

Office 2019 especially after updates and if installed without a previous version of office having been installed and uninstalled is virtually impossible to customise in any shape or form and it won't copy settings etc that you might have had from earlier versions of Office.

Manual configuration of email accounts also is only possible via the control panel applet (still says office 2016 BTW) - so if you don't know that trick and the auto config fails then you are royally hosed up.

It really is "Office Kindergarten Edition".

I found outlook 2019 useless in the suite -- couldn't sensibly configure accounts and IMAP wasn't working properly -- sent mail only viewable on the machine from which the email was sent from -- IMAP mail should be accessible on all devices which support IMAP mail accounts.

Office 2016 wasn't too bad if you had old MSDN iso (stand alone install) until updates converted it into click 2 run version and became just as frustrating as Office 2019 -- real Kindergarten versions.

I've gone back to Office 2010 where everything works and is configurable anyway you want -- there's almost nothing in the newer versions that I need and office 2010 is still getting security and other updates until Q4 2020 anyway.

    Cheers

Thanks for the info. It's really a pity MS considers everyone to be needing all these features.

There are many extra features, apart from the Office apps themselves, that one could disable in previous Office versions

Hopefully MS is reconsidering to add these options to the Customization Tool for Office 2019 (which I doubt).
