    image & Office change

I created Macrium system images with MS office 2010 in the OS.
I have now installed 2019 installed and running well.

How does this affect the images?

Should I delete them if they will be 2010 if recovered, or will there be a transition and keep them?
    Thanks

A restoration of the image containing Office 2010 will leave you with Office 2010.

You could live with that and later upgrade the restored image to Office 2019 if you wanted to.

But I'd think it would be simpler to make a a new image of the current system with Office 2019 already installed and then delete that older image.

The chances of having to restore the image with 2010 is minimal, but why keep it, assuming all is well on the new system with Office 2019?

You ought to be making new images periodically anyway--no sense in having them being 6 months old and stale--unless you have some special situation.

Did you ever buy that new PC?

I used a flash drive to install the notes ok as 2019.
I am getting the pc that is already on paper in January - $.
Thanks a lot for the tip on the images I thought I could open them and they would convert to 2019 then close them.
But I will remove them and create a new one with 2019. Its always good to have a baseline image.
    Thanks again.

    Hi there

    @maranna

    Easy way

    1) baseline backup BEFORE any office product installed
    2) install OFFICE 2010 and take backup
    3) restore 1) i.e baseline
    4) install office 2019 and take backup.

Now you've got 2 sensible images with office 2019 and office 2010 plus a baseline windows image.

I had mega problems with outlook in office 2016 and 2019 - especially after change from VL (volume license) to the click2run. Email totally hosed up -- auto config no good on my mail servers (have own domain with e-commerce) - even the get around using control panel applet to avoud the auto config didn't work properly, the Unicode text was wrong, missing mails on sent folder even though I'd specified servers as IMAP.

So although running current windows I'm sticking with Office 2010 until the other (if it ever does) get fixed. The whole thing started going pearshaped once 2016/2019 versions were converted into click 2 run with Internet install rather than from the old ISO for 2016 (now deprecated).

So eventually if Office is fixed I can restore 2019 and apply fix. Meanwhile happily using Office 2010 which will still get updates until 2020.

    Cheers

Maybe because I have the watered down Office Home and Student 2019 that there are fewer glitches.
I am having no issues here.
I would have stayed with 2010 forever but those patches.....
My kids and grand kids can have an updated system. :)
    Wish you luck.
