Moving data files to the D:\drive confusion!

I moved the Data files Contacts, Documents etc. to the D:\ drive using the Properties > Location > Move method and Office Word etc. in Options > Save show that the Save destination is D:\Users\username\Documents which is as it should be BUT which of the duplicated folders as I also made the changes in Windows > Settings > Storage method which seem to have duplicated the folders and I now have two folders in D:\Users\username\ for Desktop, Documents, Downloads, Music, Pictures and Videos presumably moved there by the Windows > Settings > Storage these folders do not have an icon just a plain folder picture and I assume they are the ones from theWindows > Settings > Storage method.

1. What did I do wrong to get duplicate folders?
2. Which folders will be used when I finally save work to?
3. Can the duplicate folders without the icons be deleted or would there be issues?

The screenshot is not from the actual pc but just to demonstrate how in actually shows in the other pc as I can't get to the actual pc just yet. No data has been saved as yet as the Office 365 applications have not been used yet.

I agree with you Berton, its just confusing that in Windows Settings there is a way to move some folders

and I can't find any explanations as to whether it is necessary to change it in settings if you have changed it by the

Properties > Location > Move method as like I say it has duplicated some folders and now I don't know which ones will be used by Windows Office.

That's how my settings are in all Office 365 Personal Applications which are the only applications that will be used in this office environment, no need for any other third party applications, directing to save to D:\ … My confusion is as to why there are duplicate folders generated by Windows?

And showing the duplicate folders as being in C:\Users\Document folder while the other Document folder show as D:\Users\Documents as shown below;

So what I would like to know is if I can delete the folders in location C:\Users\ or would that cause some issues?

Sometimes just looking at that will show what the default is and with nearly all that can be changed to the user's desire. I have all mine installed on C: set to store in folders on D:, only ones that I have to watch for are Web sites telling the Browser where to save downloads.

I finally got the answer to my question in an other forum.
I was asked to upload a screenshot of the registry Users Shell Folders which showed that the folders I moved using the Properties > Location > Move method all showed in the registry and none of the duplicated folders with the location as at C:\Uesrs\ so I was able to delete the duplicate folders. Reason given for the issue being a "

they are redundant and most likely an anomaly in Explorer, since they don't physically exist . . . "
