Am I running the Office 2019 version with my Office 365 subscription?

I just opened my Outlook today and I was surprised with the change of the layout on the menu so that brings me to this question

The About page doesn't really say about the Office year when you're using the 365 subscription

    Hi there

Looks like or similar to Office 2019

I posted a screenshot in this section earlier

However Office 2019 is primarily for the last "In House" version - after this release all the new features will be on Office/365 -- pity really as I for one certainly won't go the subscription route.

    Cheers

Currently both Office 365 and Office 2019 are 10827.20138 - you could check for updates :) As Jimbo says, 365 will get feature updates while 2019 will not (just security fixes) so as time goes by 2019 will fall behind 365 in terms of functionality.

Whether this new functionality is interesting remains to be seen. For example they removed the black theme from 2016 so they could add it back as new functionality in 2019 when it was already there in 365 and (at some earlier point) in 2016.

The version is clearly higher than the 20138 string so it must be the 2019 edition

In theory, the Office365 version is the latest feature release version of the software. The Office 2019 release is the version currently available to be sold to customers with a 1 time purchase rather than the subscription.
