Win 10 1803 update - Thesaurus on MS office 2010 not working

Since updating Win10 Pro to 1803 (17134.285) , my Office 2010 has lost the ability to use the Thesaurus. When I click review and then Thesaurus it defaults to 'Research' and the response is " No results found. Please search again". This is the response whether I use the UK English or US English Thesaurus. I have repaired the Office Word, Excel and Outlook. I have looked online and made any other changes suggested to Language choice etc but nothing I have done works. It was fine before this Win10 update. Is it a coincidence and possibly an Office 2010 update that happened at the same time?

    Hi Memsahib

Not so sure it was the update as mine works and it defaults to Research.

Actually if you check for updates, Windows 10, it should take you 17134.320.

Have you checked your update history to see if you have any 2010 failures. I have two updates on Sept 14th and five for August.

Maybe check to see if office is up to date. My version is showing as 14.0.7212.5000

Has there been any other changes to device, new AV or Privacy tools.

Thanks, Caledon Ken, for responding. I have checked the updates and have seven 2010 updates on 23rd September all successful and six 2010 Security updates also successful - all since the Cumulative Windows 10 1803 September 11, 2018—KB4457128 (OS Build 17134.285). Each has a different number - but I think the Thesaurus problem goes back before then. No new AV or Privacy tools - use Microsoft Defender and some of Advanced Systemcare options and occasional CCleaner. But have done for several years. Just checked my spare laptop and Thesaurus is working ok on that and use all same software on it also - totally baffled. Might have to uninstall Office 2010 and try reinstalling and ALL those updates Grrrr!!

Is Windows now at 17134.320 and do you have the same version as I for Office?

How about the AV's, what are you running, have you disabled for a test?

Just updated Win10 pro to 17134.320 and MS Office 2010 is 14.0.7212.5000 (32 bit).Rebooted and still no Thesaurus. Have done another repair and still no Thesaurus. Halted all virus/malware software and still not working!
Tried several common English words in Outlook, Word and Publisher and all came with same result! "No results found. Please search again." I see others online have reported a similar problem but I have tried all the suggested solutions to no avail. It must be a conflict but it doesn't work in safe mode either.

I am using those exact versions of Windows 10, and MS Office 2010 and nothing is wrong here with the Thesaurus and the Options in the drop down box in addition to English(UK).
All the updates you have listed have been done.
MS Office 2010 was installed 4-5 years ago.

Thanks Helmut - And that is exactly what used to happen on each PC that I have installed MS office 2010 since purchasing it - as it still doesn't work after a repair and changes as per Caledon Ken's link - or in safe mode - it seems there must be some corruption since the Win101803 update. Not sure if I should reinstall win 10 or Office - both a nuisance. It seems there are others with a similar problem of the Thesaurus failing but no definitive cause or solution. Might wait and see if any other suggestions come forth.

You could try an inplace repair of Windows. Non destructive process but I always recommend having a data backup. You shouldn't lose any programs either.

Repair Install Windows 10 with an In-place Upgrade

Since you are 1803 and that is what the current media creation tool will download should be straight forward. If you already have bootable media for 1803 you can use it.

When 1809 is available the media creation tool will download 1809. Keep a copy of the current media creation tool and you can use it to get 1803 whenever you need it.
