Is it possible to set up a notification in Outlook which pops up and persists until the user dismisses it. The notification would popup when an email arrives with a particular subject or from a specific user.
Check your setting in Outlook, and windows for what you have notifications set for. I personally have all notifications turned off I check email twice a day manually I don't need to be reminded that I have received a new junk mail LOL
In earlier versions of Office, you could set up "Rules" to achieve this. See Manage email messages by using rules - Office support
- Select any email folder and "Rules and alerts" should be available to you somewhere in the Ribbon [in Outlook 2007, it is in the Tools menu & the above link seems to explain where to find it in your version]
- Create a new rule
- Check messages when they arrive
- Choose the options you need such as specific words in the subject or sender's address
- Next
- Display a specific message in the new item alert window
- Choose whatever title you want for the alert dialog
- Next
- Add any exceptions you want
- Next
- Give the rule a name and, either now or after Finishing, test it by running it for a mail folder you have suitable emails in
- Finish
The alert dialog stays up until you deliberately close it.
In this example that happens to show emails with similar names on the same day, you can see the scroll bar that allows every qualifying mail to get added to the alert as it is found. You do not lose later alerts merely because you have not yet checked earlier ones.

probably the easiest way is just to get an icon when new email has arrived -- you don't need sounds or notifications.
Add outlook to your task bar and then in options -->mail choose icon envelope on taskbar.
If any of you come into my office with clicks and noises etc every few seconds when emails arrive etc whether on phones or keyboard clicks on computers etc -- I refer you to an old US TV Commercial for the "Roach Motel" -- a roach de-infestation thing "They check in but don't check out" You've been warned. !!!

The little envelope remains until you've read all the emails.

Thank you Denis for the most helpful answer esp one that doesn't try to dictate what I do and don't need. I will give it a try tomorrow and hope it I can get something working in Outlook 2016.
