    Outlook 2013 can't send email, can receive/reply

I wanted to start to using outlook 2013 for some email with the idea of possibly transitioning to it as my day to day email, rather than my Yahoo web mail account from my ISP. I have MS Office 2013 Pro Plus through my employer, it was a very good deal at the time, only $10, I really didn't have a need for it but I couldn't pass it up at that price.

Yesterday after getting the account set up I sent an email to my sister as a test, and got an immediate bounce back email showing delivery failed. The text of the return email is in the quote box below. Google didn't have much of any usable solutions, most results were concerning problems receiving emails, not sending.

Your message did not reach some or all of the intended recipients.

    Subject: xxxxxxxx
    Sent: 9/8/2018 10:40 AM

The following recipient(s) cannot be reached:

    'xxxxxx@yahoo.com' on 9/8/2018 10:40 AM
This message could not be sent. Try sending the message again later, or contact your network administrator. The client operation failed. Error is [0x80004005-0x000b22-0x000501].
I can send/receive to this outlook account with no errors, and reply to those emails. What I can't do is originate an email from the outlook account in question. I have the same problem with W10 webmail which is also outlook.

    TIA for any replies/suggestions,

If this isn't the right forum please move this post, ty

Yes those continued pop ups are very irritating, after clicking the closeout x five or six times they stopped.

I did all those things from that link and nothing changed, still getting the same immediate return 'delivery failed' email. I spent quite a bit of time poking around on the MS support site and didn't really find anything helpful for this particular problem.

Something I found interesting, I successfully sent an email to myself at my yahoo web mail address, my primary email account from my ISP, at swbell.net. I was also able to send to my work email att.com, but not to my gmail.com account, or to my wife at her yahoo.com account.

My copy of Office 2013 is activated and up to date, 15.0.5059.1000.

I think the problem is fixed, adding POP to the outlook email settings appeared to have resolved this issue. The steps I did to change is are described below to maybe help the next user that has this problem.

From outlook I went to File > Account Settings > under Account and Social Network Settings I clicked on the link under 'Access this Account on the Web'.

I logged on to the web page, clicked settings (the gear, upper right hand corner), clicked Accounts, on the drop down clicked POP and IMAP. Under options, POP was turned off, I clicked to 'Let devices and apps use POP'. Closed everything down, restarted Outlook and sent mail to my wife's yahoo account without an immediate return 'delivery failed' email.

    I'll mark this thread solved.
