OFFICE 2016 won't accept mail server - outlook 2010 no problem

    Hi folks

I've got identical settings (or so it looks to me --been through every single thing I could find) for 3 email (imap) accounts --one computer outlook 2010, second computer outlook 2016.

Outlook 2010 - all 3 accounts work perfectly
Outlook 2016 2 work fine - on one server always comes back with error --mail server rejected logon.

If I uninstall outlook 2016 and re-install outlook 2010 and get the server working - will outlook 2016 copy server settings etc from the outlook.pst file if I uninstall outlook 2010 and re-install office 2016.

    This is driving me bonkers.

Tested on VM's as well - outlook 2016 won't connect to one mail server without error.

    Cheers

    Hi there

    Update on this:

    1) Installed without uninstalling Office 2010 -- all accounts OK
    2) uninstall Office 2010 on another machine and install Office 2016 -- only 2 accounts worked -- even though copied settings from the working machine.

    3) uninstalled Office 2010 on the machine with Office 2016 installed -- everything OK -- BTW Office 2010 and Office 2016 run concurrently seemingly without issues on IMAP mail is the same in all folders. Not sure about the other components of office though so now just got Office 2016 working.

Marking as solved -- it's a bit longwinded but it works --I'll leave to older and wiser heads than mine to find the cause --I'm just happy its's working properly.

    Cheers
