No Avatars for Outlook 2016 (365) mail notifications in Action Center?

    Hi,

When a new e-mail appears in my Outlook 2016 (365) account(s), that is shown in Actions Center. However, the notification does not show the sender's avatar (image) even though that's saved to my People details for my most used contacts. I have seen these 'Avatars' in some UWP apps (Twitter...?) so theoretically it could work.

Seems this isn't implement / feasible in current Office. And no, it ain't a dealbreaker for me, yet it would make things and UX a bit more polished. Let's see if 1809 and the up-coming Office 2019 will change that.

    Moi Timo, terveisiä sinne Suomeen!

I have noticed the same, I believe you are right in saying that it hasn't been implemented in Office. Should be doable.

Another thing is that, generally speaking, Action Center notifications do not work very well. For instance me mentioning you here @tjsuominen, you might get a notification but if you do, it most probably does not show Ten Forums logo. Instead, you will see a generic placeholder icon:

Outlook mail notifications have no logic. The screenshot above shows two last Outlook notifications I've got. Checking Outlook, over 20 messages had arrived to same inbox between those two that gave a notification. PC is constantly on and online, Outlook running all the time.

Same unreliability with Skype app. It should also show notifications, but sometimes when I am wondering why it has been so quiet for days and open Skype, I see there are quite a few unread, recent messages from my contacts.

What in my opinion is remarkable is that it seems to be mostly Microsoft products and applications which have issues in showing notifications. Most third party applications show them just fine, as they should.

As it is, I nowadays mostly ignore notifications because I cannot trust that I get them all.

    Kiitos Kari,

To me it just shows that the whole Action Center is more or less 'un-finished' and not delivering it's promises. Don't now if it's fair or not, but comparing to e.g. Android ecosystem notifications and abilities, W10 feels like a concept that was forgotten to implement (or remove prior roll-out). I'm aware there's some enhancements coming in the next 1809 release, so let's see. At this point, it's more distracting than delivering value.

One additional example, not even Store shows available App updates in AC... (I have auto-update disabled).

Windows 10, release 1909 with Microsoft 365 for Enterprice:

    - still no Avatars visible upon new mail
    - still no notification of new Windows Store app updates

    = nothing done for those from 1809 > 1909 > and I don't think for 2004 either...
