    Outlook Takes Forever to Start

Outlook has suddenly decided to take forever to start in the April 2018 Update. Further, if I click on an email to read it, Outlook crashes, and when I try to close it, the same thing happens!

I've already tried uninstalling/reinstalling, but the same thing happens.

Outlook is fine in both the Insider Preview 17741 and Skip Ahead Build 18219. No problems with either of these.

This is driving me crazy! I have to reboot into my Skippy Build in order to get decent email.

Edit: I just checked my HP Lappy with the April 2018 Update on it, and it brought up Outlook just as it should, so I guess it's not the Update.

If you go to Control Panel > programs and features > office > change, you should see some repair options. They didn't work for me for an issue I had with outlook a while back. Can't hurt to try them, I think there is a quick repair and a more detailed repair option.
I could have sworn there was a repair option in Office / Outlook menus some where but I can't find it?

Good morning, Alpha. Thanks for the info; Quick Repair didn't work, so I'm going to let Outlook open (if it ever succeeds) and then try the detailed repair to see if that works.

Open to more suggestions after it fails; no, I don't expect it to work either.

Edit: Well phooey! All that did was tell me to close Outlook and then it reinstalled O365! Hey, Microsoft! I can do and already did that! Sheesh!

If was fixed in the end but I have no idea what actually fixed it? There was something else to try posted in that thread that I never got the chance to try.

Yeah, to be honest I wasn't all that impressed with the repair options I got and how they did or didn't work?

I opened File>Support and found the "Microsoft Support and Recovery Assistant for Office 365", which dealt specifically with Outlook problems. Opening the app gives several choices, one of which looked like my problem, so I clicked on it.

This app was quite thorough, although it took me through several scenarios, asking each time if that had worked. None worked until right at the end, it suggested changing my Profile. So, after muddling through what it told me to do, I was asked once again if it worked, and I could finally tell it yes!

So, the problem is solved until the next time Outlook decides to misbehave, which is quite frequently in my experience.

No Support option for me in the File menu for Outlook 2016 Pro. Hopefully you have it fixed.

    Do you have Office 365, Alpha? Here's where I found it . . .

No, Office 2016 Professional Plus. I have the same menu but mine has Feedback listed where you have Support.

I guess that's something new to Office 365 because I've never seen it before. I installed it on my computer so it could troubleshoot Outlook . . .

Hmmmm, I checked Word and Excel; they don't have Support there either, just Feedback, so I guess I'll keep a watch to see if it shows up on them too.
