    Windows Installer issue Error 1719

A week ago I tried to open Word to work on my resume by clicking on the icon on my desktop and I got the following error:
    "Windows Installer- Preparing to Install"

After 5 seconds it says: Microstoft Office Standard 2010

Error: 1719. The Windows Installer Service could not be accessed.

This can occur if the Windows Installer is not correctly installed.

Contact your support personnel for assistance.

I click on "OK" and it says: Problem With Shortcut

    Fatal Error during installation

And when I click to open a PDF file, I get the following error:
    AcroRd32.exe - System Error

The code execution cannot proceed because KERNEL32.dll was not found. Reinstalling the program may fix this problem.

What is happening? The only culprit I can think of is recent Windows updates that have been done? I did a system restore but the earliest date is June 20th 2018 and it did not work. If I went back a month ago I am sure I would be ok but I don't have a system restore point that goes back that far. I'm kicking myself for not creating system restore points. Please help. Thank you.

Sounds like the restore did not do it properly and you will have to reinstall those items that are not working and cannot be repaired.

I think if there was a system restore point for a month ago or more I would be ok. The only restore point I had was 10 bays back into the past. Not enough. What do I do. Please, someone give me an answer.

I gave you an answer. You will have to reinstall everything or do a non-volatile reset of the OS and then reinstall all programs that you want. This is why you do backups not Restore points. Restore points do not fix everything, just certain OS issues. It will even tell you want will happen before you do the restore. Even if you restore points further back, you would have still ran into issues.

I'm sorry bro67. I didn't mean to be an a-hole. I apologize. I'm frustrated because this was my sister's laptop and it is like 10 years old and I have no idea where the MS Office disk is to reinstall it. I'm going to have to buy Office again. Oh well. Such is life. One thing is for sure. I will definitely use Macrium Reflect.

Age of the device has nothing to do with a FUBAR'd install. If she does not have the Office 10 disk and you cannot download it from Microsoft.com, she will have to upgrade, especially if you cannot pull the license or have it written down somewhere.
