Paste not working between chrome and msword

Hi

I am having trouble copying and pasting between chrome and msword.

I have windows 10 and office 2016.

This strange behaviour started last week and I think it coincides when I was running a macro that did not work.

Now whenever I highlight something to paste from the internet to word it shows as a rectangular box on the screen but when I go to a msword document and press control v it does not paste. The only way it will paste is if I press paste on the clipboard. It is as if the keyboard shortcut no longer works or does not exist.

All I have done so far is tried to restore to last week when everything was okay but it said it could not do it which seems ominous.

Anyone help please?

Not sure if this is part of the issue but Office has a different clipboard function than Windows. The Windows version holds only 1 item at a time but the later versions of Office can hold 12 or 24/26, maybe more clips at a time and maybe Chrome can't deal with that. I'd try Select and Copy then open Wordpad and paste to check that the Windows version is working then Paste from that program to Chrome. Reverse that to Copy in Chrome, use Ctrl+C to Copy then Ctrl+V to Paste into Wordpad then paste it into Word, should work the same. A mal-formed Macro can certainly cause problems, I stay away from them as much as possible.
