You can try using the PrtSc key assuming your laptop has one. Then paste the clipboard into eg Paint.

I've just modified a blank document (margins), saved it as a template, (dotx), relaunched Writer and opened a document with that template- margins as I set them...

(I vaguely recall there's a choice of GUI- whether that's at install time I can't remember).

I'm on a Desktop. I can save a blank Template and if I open the saved Template that will give me the proper margins. It just won't save as default.

I'll have to look around if there is a way to screen capture the dropdown before it disappears.

Same thing happens in MS Word.
I can tell you that in MS Word you need to update your normal template - not sure about Writer.

When I install Word it likes to use US letter size (which is longer and thinner than normal paper) and I must always change the normal .dotm to use A4 instead. In MS Word it is just in preferences.

Wps: how to set default page setup:
How to change the default page setup?

Else as we've said you can create a template and then use that.

Doubt there's a way to set a 'default template'.

I got it. Snipping Tool. Hit Alt+ F12+PrnScrn all at the same time. That thing under the Margin info is the Custom settings. See box below.

Dalchina... The Snipping Tool and Duck Capture do not play well together. I used Snipping Tool, and Duck Capture popped up and FROZE on my screen. Had to do a re-boot to get red of it, then deleted Duck Capture.

I can use the snipping tool (with a mouse) quite happily with Duckcapture running in the tray.

Or are you talking perhaps about a hotkey? Tried Alt + F12 (which is?), ALT + SHIFT PrtSc (normally it's SHIFT + PrtSc) your key combo doesn't make a lot of sense.. sorry.

I think my previous may answer your question about default settings.

This is my keyboard...Saitek Eclipse PZ30AU Wired Keyboard | eBay

It has an "ALT" key, an "F12" key and a "PRTSCRN" key to the right of "F12" key. Press all three keys at the same time when the Snipping Tool is open. It worked for me.

Got it from here...April Pierson: How to Take a Screenshot of a Drop Down Menu

See the first comment. I used "F12" for the "FCN" key and it worked.
