Hi Sheltieuck, no I have not got 2 step authentication enabled and I don't think that I need it to be honest. I have read through your link, for which many thanks, but I don't think that it will help me get over my problem.

I mentioned in my first post that I have tried so many of the 'solutions' mentioned on the internet but none of them are solving my problem. I have thought about uninstalling Microsoft Office and then reinstalling it but there would be little point in doing that. The problem seems to be a Google one as opposed to Microsoft, I think!
Whilst I am reasonable-ish with computers, when it starts to get really technical I tend to get lost. I'm a bit long in the tooth really (almost 78) and it all gets a bit mind boggling.
Thank you for trying to help.

I am constantly getting a request to enter my username and password when trying to use Outlook 2010.

Even after entering what I think is the correct password, (I have tried others just in case I have got it wrong but I am pretty certain I am not wrong) I still get the message. I have tried going through the complete set up procedure but this doesn't solve anything either.

I have also tried pretty much everything that I can find on Google but, without any joy whatsoever.

I don't think that I will get over the problem even if I uninstall Microsoft Office and then re-install it, or will I?

Any help will be very much appreciated. Thank you.
Let's go back to the beginning, Bluenose; I need to ask a question or maybe two . . .

    1. When you open Outlook, is that when you get the username and password request? If this is the case, are you giving the password you originally set up for Office 2010, or a password for an email account?

    2. Or, is it when you try to open an email from your gmail account? If this is the case, you will need to "reset your password" with Google.

    3. Or, is it when you try to open an email from some other email account? Same as Google; reset your password.

    4. From what you've said above, am I correct in assuming that you can't open Outlook at all because it won't accept your username and password?

    OK, so I asked four questions . . .

@Wynona.....that attachment only pops up after outlook is already open because there is a server error, whether it be from Gmail or MS outlook, for confirmation. In every instance that I've experienced....it's with the "less secure" setting in one's Google account. I've only seen this with MS outlook email client software.

Question is: Why is Google flagging MS Outlook as less secure. I've sent numerous feedbacks via their "report an issue" to Google about this problem and have yet to receive a reply.

So, are you having the same problems that Bluenose is having?

Have you enabled: Gmail settings > Forwarding and POP/IMAP > Enable POP for all mail
