We're sorry but outlook has run into an error that is preventing it...

Last couple of days I've been getting a "We're sorry but Outlook has run into an error that is preventing it from working correctly. Outlook will need to be closed as a result." message. It also gives a "Would you like us to repair now?" option with Repair Now, Help and close options. Repair now doesn't appear to do anything and the message eventually comes back again. Clicking help just takes me to a the office help page with generic errors, non of which match what I'm seeing.
At first it was the occasional message, today though I've gotten several in a row. I'm currently watching to see if its maybe a send receive error? Office 2016 Pro installed locally from mounted MSDN ISO. I'm going to try and do some manual repairs of Outlook and or Office. I'm open to any other ideas though if anybody else has seen this error. It's the first time I've seen it. No error number etc either, to look up. I'll reinstall if I have to, want to save that as the last option though.

I had a similar situation a month or so ago. I ended up deleting the .ost file (offline email storage). It created a new one and all was fine after. Maybe that was just me with a corrupted file, but worth a look.

The offline Outlook Data File (.ost) is also saved at drive:\Users\user\AppData\Local\Microsoft\Outlook. Most data remains on the server; however, any items that are saved locally should be backed up. For example, Calendar, Contacts, Tasks, and any folders marked Local only.

I'll have a look, thanks. I just ran the quick repair from Control Panel > programs and features > office > change and got a "Something went wrong" "Sorry we ran into a problem" I got an error code though. 30015-13 (-1073610698)

EDIT: That error message didn't really help, search just took me back to the repair procedure that generated it. I ran it again but selected online repair. If that doesn't work I'll try your ost delete. I'll be to the point of having to reinstall office anyway if it doesn't help.

Trying to remember, but I think I needed to go into Outlook and turn off sync files to local, or something like that, and it deleted the .ost. You'll have to look. Good luck!

Online repair got me the exact same something went wrong error message. It did it during step 2 I believe, where it was downloading office. I'll keep plugging away at it for now.

Just launched Outlook after closing the error message and got a verify your account pop up. Now its showing a Getting Office ready for you message with the circling dots. Its been doing that for a few minutes now. Hard drive LED is blinking occasionally. Think I'll just leave it and come back to it. I see e-mail in my inbox so Outlook isn't totally borked. I can't click on them though as the getting office ready window has stolen focus and just blinks if I try to select my inbox.

Probably trying to sync. Let it get happy!

I think it was just in an endless loop? Good or bad I just clicked the Red X to close the window. It was the only way I could use Outlook. Now its just wait and see if the original error comes back. Outlook works, it just occasionally forces me to close and relaunch it when that error pops up. Just an annoyance at this point.

Hmm, the Outlook error appears to be gone, knock on wood. Windows is now prompting me to activate though? I have no idea if one is related to the other. It's saying no DL and a 0xc004f012 error number. Troubleshoot went into an endless circling balls. Did a reboot and clicked activate and it activated with the DL it already had. This install is fairly new too? Will have to keep an eye on things and watch for other weirdness. Might be time to do a check disk and run the SFC.
