    Error Code - 0x80244018

    Hi:
I have been trying for weeks to install the 1709 Update. It passes the requirement test and everything is working just fine and then sometime after 83% this error pops up. I even go as far as to retry and get nowhere.

The computer is a Netbook and like I mentioned it passes the requirement test., I have un-installed any Malware programs etc and just running Windows Defender.

So I am at a loss, does anyone know what the error code represents.

    Thanks for any assistance.

    Run:
    sfc /scannow

See if you have any system file corruption.

    Hi,

Thanks for the SFC/Scannow, but I have tried that on several occasions and by running that command it finds no errors.

You can try the Windows Update Troubleshooter:

Tried as you suggested and it gets into a phase where it is turning off and then back on services and then after a few minutes it crashes. Totally frustrating this is getting...

Also probably doesn't mean much, every other update ie Defender and weekly updates are working perfectly, just the 1709 update doesn't work.

Well, I got so frustrated that I backed up any important data and made a bootable USB Memory Stick and deleted the C:\ drive and put in a new installation and now everything is up to date and working perfectly.

I was a little worried about the new install would not be licensed, but I guess thru the process the new install verified everything and I am good to go.

Thanks to all who offered advice and hints etc.
