Fall Creators Update
I just bit the bullet and went to Microsoft site and tried to install it. It hung up stuck on 24% and stayed there for an hour so I pulled the plug and it has gone back to the previous version. Now what?

You can try using the Media Creation Tool to build a bootable USB Flash Drive with the proper Win10 FCU version on it, then use that to install the new OS instead. You'll find what you need at the Download Windows 10 web page on the MS website.
If that doesn't work either, be sure to grab error message info and repost to this thread. Sooner or later, you'll get it taken care of. Some upgrade journeys take longer than others, but very, very few end in abject failure.
