A book about how windows installation works

    Hi!
I was wondering if someone could tell a name of a good book that explains how the windows installation works behind the scenes? What it does while it presents those screens to entertain us.And also a book that explains in further detail what are those important files and system folders like dlls, system folders.Where windows saves users files? what files are important that can and cant be deleted..

    thank you very much

There is a line of books with the name "for dummies" with the subject matter in front. Example; Windows 10 for dummies.

    All Titles - For Dummies

    dummies - Learning Made Easy

Search for books published by Microsoft.
I've not looked there for many years, but I know they have books that drive deeply into the internals of Windows.
(I don't think the "Dummies" series of books will offer anything meaningful on this topic.)

Have you even seen the "Dummies series".....the dummies series breaks down the technical aspect of windows to laymen terms. Same thing as the "cliff note" series.

I like books, but most documentation provided by Microsoft today is online. A good place to start is //docs.microsoft.com, and in particular:

Windows Setup Technical Reference | Microsoft Docs

    - PDF File from panel on left of page at he bottom:

    https://docs.microsoft.com/pdfstore/...cture/live.pdf

(note: all PDFs from this Microsoft Docs resource download with the filename "live.pdf", so you may wish to save it with a meaningful filename.

There is a large body of information there, on the various areas of Windows deployment, of interest both to IT professionals and enthusiasts.

Note that the web pages from the Microsoft docs may be downloaded as comprehensive PDF files that may be read most conveniently in a dedicated PDF reader like Adobe Acrobat Reader, or one of many third party readers available to download. Many e-book readers also handle PDF files.

If this seems too technical or dry, you can always use this, or a new thread to discuss aspects that may be of interest to you - but there is no getting away from the fact that the subject is technical.

Much of Windows technology has remained officially undocumented, but the release of Windows 10 has been accompanied by much greater involvement of large numbers of the users, particularly with the Windows Insider Programme, involving technically enthusiastic and experienced users in beta testing of their latest releases, and involving them with reporting, work-arounds, and bug-fixing.

This has resulted in a large body of unofficial documentation online, with forums like this one at Tenforums at the forefront of testing and reporting of new builds.
