I ran a mbam and a combofix to see if they would pick anything up. The machine was mostly clean except for some adware. I am heading back to the site later today to give it another try. I did try to run a sfc /scannow before, but it keeps giving an error.

    1) Open administrative command prompt and type or copy and paste:
    2) sfc /scannow
    3) dism /online /cleanup-image /scanhealth
    4) dism /online /cleanup-image /restorehealth
    5) When the above commands have completed > right click on the top bar or title bar of the administrative command prompt box > Left click edit then select all > right click the top bar again > left click edit then copy > paste into the thread

    Hi,

DISM wont work on W7, thats why i asked him to run KB947821.

There is a comparative to the SURT KB, run this tool please,

    Another solution

well why not getting a list of the programs that need to be kept
do a clean install of windows 10 and then getting all the programs installed on there!
that is if it can be done!?
