    0xC1900101 - 0x2000A - Error

"The Installation failed in the SAFE_OS phase with an error during PREPARE_FIRST_BOOT operation"

Hi, Above is my error with my windows 10 upgrade.

It downloads and then starts copying the files on the black screen with the big % sign, but then it fails and restores my previous version of windows.

I have tried to upgrade like 5 times and now I am tired. I have used the "windows 10" link and the media creator and the windows update tool. same process same error. I have looed about all the forums and no-one seems to have this problem........... please help me.

    Thanks

This seemed to be because my OS was prompting me to choose between Win7 and Win 8.1 on start-up. In my program files i had a Windows.old folder (from my old 7 to 8 upgrade). This i renamed as Aaaaa and then i turned off the boot OS selection restore option. After rescanning updates it downloaded fine and is now working without problems.

i'm having the same issue with mine and i can't get into the UEFI settings and i also tried to reinstall windows and that produced the error that you're talking about and nobody anywhere seems to know how to fix it. i've basically lived on google search for a few days trying to find the answer and nobody seems to know anything about anything.

Posting in this thread is not going to help. You already have this one going with no good result:

Can't Boot into the UEFI settings no matter what I do

The last suggestion from NavyLCDR was to contact the system board manufacturer which at this point is a good idea as they should be able to help you figure out how to get into BIOS/UEFI setup.
