I did try updating the 3D guard, but that seems to have failed.... lol ... Coolsense is supposed to help control the fan and processor speed (I think)

Other than that so far seems OK, apart from the icons... Will see what I can find :)

One other question... any idea what the letters/numbers are at the end of each line of the log? they were not there before the update to 1709

    Code:
    {BB671616-E2D7-4F6F-AA1F-306D87EA9860} 2017-11-28 16:43:49:752-0000 1 147 [AGENT_DETECTION_FINISHED] 101 {00000000-0000-0000-0000-000000000000} 0 0 ChkWuDrv Success Software Synchronization Windows Update Client successfully detected 0 updates. Sorry no idea.

What error do you get on drive guard. Did you try right clicking on exe and running as Administrator.

No error at all apart from if I run the .exe it give the incompatible error even after the fix... I will see how it goes, HP may respond lol

The letters and number are not there prior to the update in the log, only after...

Well so far so good, seems to be running OK on 1709 after the long wait, and it seems that although the taskbar icon for the HP 3D Driveguard, which protects the drive if the notebook is dropped is missing (and does say incompatible if I click the .exe for the system tray is missing the actual software and service are running, so maybe the taskbar icon was the issue...

HP Coolsense has also started to work with the icon appearing in the taskbar again...

All good, in fact as I have a Macrium backup from the day before if needed I have removed the Windows.old folder :)

    Very cool.

    One member's opinion.

This update process is only going to get more complicated. Windows 10 runs on such a wide variety of hardware and software items I'm not sure how they can possibly test the permutations. It will be test as best as possible in time allotted and then let the chips lay as they fall.

    Glad yours is working.

My install is going on over 24 hours now. It is actively updating, but it's taking forever.

    - Win 10 pro
    - Version 10.0.15063 Build 15063
    - Dell Latitude E7470
    - I7
    - 16 GB Ram
    - 500 GB SSD

That is excessive. How can you tell its actively updating?

Did you have lots of third party programs on your device.
